Bengaluru’s Red Line Metro: Connecting Sarjapur to Hebbal
The new Red Line Metro, part of Bengaluru’s expanding metro network, will connect key areas like Sarjapur and Hebbal.

The Namma Metro network is growing. BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited) is working to connect more parts of the city. As part of this, it is planning a new Red Line that will run from Sarjapur to Hebbal.
Existing and Upcoming Metro Lines
Currently, the Green Line (North-South) and the Purple Line (East-West) are operational.
Other lines expected in the near future:
Yellow Line – likely in 2025
Pink Line – expected in 2026
Blue Line – planned for 2027
Why the Red Line?
There has been a long-standing demand for Metro services in areas like:
Hosur Road
St. John’s
Madiwala
Sarjapur
To address this, the Red Line has been taken up in Phase 3A of the Metro project.

Route: From Sarjapur to Hebbal
Length: 36.59 km
Total Stations: 28
Construction Type:
14.45 km underground tunnel
22.14 km elevated track
Areas Covered:
Koramangala, Dairy Circle, KR Circle, Golf Course, Mekhri Circle
Project Cost and Land Use
Estimated Cost: ₹28,405 crore
Land Acquisition Cost: ₹8,080 crore
Private Land Cost: ₹1,224 crore
Land Needed: Around 161.65 acres
The project will affect 836 properties, including:
314 residential buildings
37 commercial buildings
63 industrial buildings
Most of this land belongs to private owners.
